Top 10 psychological and emotional reasons to quit smoking

To stop smoking, smokers need strong motivation to drive them to kick the nicotine habit.

Indeed, there can be strong personal reasons, pressure from peers and family members or due to social stigma attached with smoking to give up the habit.
The following list tries to address the psychological and emotional side of benefits smokers can derive when they take the arduous journey of quitting smoking.

1. Smoking is no more 'cool'

Cigarette smoking no more considered cool compared to 70s and 80s when everyone smoked. The smoking habit considered unhealthy. Cigarette companies generated the ‘cool’ image due to cleverly designed commercials. For someone intelligent, the appeal of coolness is diminishing given the health hazard the smoking habit carries. There are mandatory ghastly looking images on cigarette packs in some countries not only horrifying, but also a revelation.

2. Stop buying packs of cigarette saves you lot of money

For a moment, imagine how many cigarettes a smoker smokes in a year on an average 20 cigarettes a day. Cool 7000 cigarettes a year! Astounding, right? No! Try the numbers if one smoked for the last 10 years. That totals to 70,000 cigarettes. Now, that is worrying. We have not considered special occasions, weekends; jaunts to nightclubs where one tend to smoke more than usual, sometimes two times the average. This puts the numbers even higher.

Just do the math and see how much cigarette one has burnt in her life. Interestingly, the amount of money one spends just to satisfy addiction is staggering. It is fraction of a dollar, no doubt, for each cigarette. However, how much money one spends on buying cough medicine, breath fresheners, throat fresheners, teeth whiteners, and visiting dentists just because one wanted to be normal?

3. Increased Confidence levels once one stop smoking.

You look like a rock star to others who are trying to quit smoking. Apparently, almost every other smoker wishes to stop smoking one day. However, how many honestly stop smoking and never become a smoker again in their lives? You will be surprised to find out how people expression can change when one mention that she quit smoking. It is shocking for most of smokers and pleasant surprise for many of her not smoking friends. Just imagine how tall she can walk!

4. Worry no more about how bad your breath smell in front of clients or customers

The cigarette smoke smells nasty. Smoking creates bad odor in your mouth and few feet around you. The smell lingers longer if you smoke in an air-conditioned room. You make every other not smoking person to suffer because of your habit. Does it sound selfish? Perhaps, yes. Stop smoking and never worry about the stink again.

5. Save astounding amounts of time

Can you imagine how much time one save by stop smoking? If you are a busy person and a smoker, you can gain lot by stop smoking. It is a simple arithmetic.

One may argue that he or she is smoking the cigarette while working. The smoker while smoking unknowingly idle away productive minutes. How much time you end up wasting just for smoking every year? You be the judge.

6. No embarrassing stares at you

Nowadays, many public places are out of bounds for smoking. However, when smokers lit a cigarette in places with children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and sick persons, for example, invite cold stare from others. It is embarrassing for both the guilty smoker and others. You can walk guilt free when you quit.

7. Feel healthier and fresh day after day

We know there are nearly 2000 types of chemicals produced while smoking and some are hazardous and carcinogen! Smoking can cause irreparable damage to mouth, gums, teeth, and lungs. We are wise enough to stay away from death inviting sticks.

8. Help your society to become smoke free and earn good karma

Leading by example, you can help others to quit smoking. You can motivate others who are trying to quit smoking. You will earn good karma by doing this.

9. Make your family members happy and healthy

Do you know how happy your friends, family members and others feel for you when you stop smoking? It is certainly a feel good factor for you. You help them to eliminate passive effects of smoking. The whole environment becomes healthy. You will love it.

10. Develop cleaner and healthier living environment

Imagine the cigarette butts, empty boxes that thrown around on the street by un-mindful smokers. By quitting smoking, you are helping to keep the clean environment and smoke free. Our world beset with global pollution. By quitting, you can contribute positively to the global cause.

The Risks and Benefits of Drinking Coffee

these days, more and more people
drink coffee for different reasons.

The effects of drinking coffee
have been long researched.

* Is it only a habit people have in the morning?

* Is it for the taste?

* Is it a way of socializing?

* Or, are people aware of what effects coffee actually has such as a few cups of tea when we are sick or have a cold?

* Do people know when to stop drinking coffee?

What is the recommended daily amount of coffee one should have, just as we know that refilling our tea cups more than three times per day can have no negative effect?

Drinking coffee may present some risks. But, there are also a lot of benefits that come with this drink. For example, when it comes to illnesses, coffee may prevent the development of gallstones, cirrhosis, type two diabetes or Parkinson's disease because of the antioxidant contained in the beans.

Norwegian experts have discovered that serving brewed coffee in a typical way Coffee provides more antioxidant that raspberries, blueberries or different kinds of fruit juice. Also, according to specialists at Harvard, coffee may have an effect on cardiovascular problems. The smell of coffee may also have a calming effect, although this aspect has been experimented only on rats. Therefore, the consumption of coffee seems to be good both for the mind and the body.

However, the fact that coffee has a number of benefits for its consumers does not mean that it should be consumed in extraordinary and exaggerated quantities. This is when the risks of drinking coffee usually show up. Coffee does not function in the same way as tea, which can usually be consumed over and over again with little risks. Using your tea cups at work and at home any time you have the chance can only be good for your body, but coffee doesn't work the same way.

According to specialists, one should one consume one or two cups of coffee daily, not taking into consideration the milk or sugar added. Any amount of coffee more than this recommendation may lead to dehydration or to extremely elevated blood pressure because of the amount of caffeine. For pregnant women, too much coffee can have very unpleasant effects, such as the loss of the baby. Also, because of the cafestol levels it contains, unfiltered coffee leads to higher cholesterol. This is a detail consumers should pay attention to.

All in all, drinking coffee can come both with risks and benefits. The line between the two being drawn on the amount of coffee one consumes on a daily basis. Therefore, coffee is good for us when not consumed excessively, but moderately.

10 tips for beautiful skin in the summer

10 tips for beautiful skin in the summer
Summer requires a special skin care regimen and
extra protection from the sun's harmful UV rays.

Follow these 10 steps to beautiful, healthy, moisturized summer skin.

When you're in the midst of battling parched winter skin, it's easy to forget that summer presents its own skin challenges. Summer offers a reprieve from forced dry heat and lack of indoor humidity, but skin faces a different challenge during the summer. Exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun can wreck life-threatening havoc in addition to causing skin to age prematurely.

Spring offers the very best environment for skin. Its moderate temperature range and the high humidity from April showers can lull you into complacent neglect toward skin care. Spring's optimal conditions provide your skin with a welcome rest between struggling to retain moisture during the arid winter months and the assault of the summer sun. When the temperature heats up and you start spending more time outdoors, it's time to rev up your skin care regimen again.

As the dog days of summer approach, the key to beauty from the inside out is to lighten up. As your mood lightens from extended daylight hours, it's time to lighten up on work, clothing, food and beverage, and lotions and potions. Follow our tips below, and pay special attention to the sun prevention tips and tricks.

* Beauty begins on the inside. During the summer months, trade your heavy stews and soups for lighter fare, including grilled fish and fruit salads. Retire the hot chocolate in favor of iced green tea, and say goodbye to the hot spiced rum for a few months, replacing it with a cool, refreshing wine spritzer or frozen fruit daiquiri.

* Summer signals the beginning of increased activity, which causes you to lose moisture through perspiration. Drink water before you feel thirsty. Once you feel thirst, you're already slightly dehydrated. Carry water with you everywhere, to eliminate the possibility of drinking tap water.

* Chlorine doesn't play nice with skin, hair and nails; it leaves them dry, brittle and flakey. It adds an additional load to your body—another chemical for your body to assimilate and eliminate. Wash off chlorine as soon as you step out of the pool or hot tub. Add a water filter to your shower to trap chlorine and other chemicals. You'll notice a difference in your skin within a few days.

* Apply creams and lotions with a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Lightweight summer clothes don't completely block the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. In fact, lightweight clothing offers very little SPF—usually around 8. When you spend concentrated time in the sun, apply a water-resistant or waterproof sun block, and use a sun block with zinc on your face. Reapply often. Even with sun block, you'll get some color in the summer. Until you do, fake it with one of the many self-tanning lotions on the market. Whatever you do, don't attempt to get a suntan the old-fashioned way. Wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your hair from the sun and to provide additional protection to your face.

* If you work in the garden, apply protection against insects, and reapply as necessary. Not only will you avoid unsightly bite marks and annoying itching, but you might also avoid debilitating disease. Don't take unnecessary chances. If the thought of applying DEET to your body makes you shudder, apply one of the natural insect repellants containing citronella and other natural essential oils. When you get bitten, avoid the urge to scratch. Scratching only intensifies the itching sensation, and it can lead to infection and scarring.

* Grow an aloe plant. They're impossible to kill, even if you have a brown thumb. Having immediate access to an Aloe plant is like having a drugstore in your backyard. Break off a leaf and apply the gel on the inside to provide instant relief from sunburn, insect bites, burns from outdoor grilling, and minor skin irritations. Keep another plant in the kitchen for burns. Nothing works as quickly as Aloe to stop the pain.

* Lighten up on your facial moisturizing routine. Instead of dry flakes, your skin faces eruptions from clogged pores during the summer. Clean your face meticulously, several times each day if necessary. Switch to a lighter moisturizer with fewer emollients. Consider a tinted moisturizer to eliminate the extra layer of make-up foundation. If you have good skin, show it off during the summer instead of hiding it under layers of concealer, foundation and powder. Allow your natural radiant skin to shine through without obstruction.

* Hands and feet require special care in the summer. Keep nails short to enjoy summer sports activities. You don't want to interrupt a set of tennis to repair a broken nail. You may get calluses from gardening and racquet sports. Exfoliate hands and feet regularly, and don't lighten up on rich, emollient hand and foot creams, because parts of the hands and feet contain no oil glands. If you visit the beach, take a long walk on the beach. No manmade treatment equals the exfoliation power of feet pounding against sand. Walk long enough, and your feet will sport a baby soft finish.

* With your legs exposed during the summer, you may tire of daily shaving. Consider one of the sugar-based wax formulations. It may take several applications to master the technique, but after a few false starts, the efforts are worth the learning curve. The advertisements will entice you with a month or more of hair-free soft, baby skin. If you get two weeks of silky smooth skin, consider yourself lucky. Follow-up each waxing session with a moisturizer containing aloe to avoid skin bumps.

* If your winter lip balm didn't contain sun protection, make sure that your summer lip balm does. Chapped lips are annoying, but sunburned lips are painful! Reapply often, particularly when you're on the water in an open boat or riding in a convertible. Wind is just as damaging as sun, and the two together ensure a bad burn for unprotected skin. ur summer lip balm does. Chapped lips are annoying, but sunburned lips are painful! How DomainKeys Works

How DomainKeys Works
How it Works - Sending Servers
There are two steps to signing an email with DomainKeys:

1. Set up: The domain owner (typically the team running the email systems within a company or service provider) generates a public/private key pair to use for signing all outgoing messages (multiple key pairs are allowed). The public key is published in DNS, and the private key is made available to their DomainKey-enabled outbound email servers. This is step "A" in the diagram to the right.
2. Signing: When each email is sent by an authorized end-user within the domain, the DomainKey-enabled email system automatically uses the stored private key to generate a digital signature of the message. This signature is then pre-pended as a header to the email, and the email is sent on to the target recipient's mail server. This is step "B" in the diagram to the right.

How it Works - Receiving Servers
There are three steps to verifying a signed email:

1. Preparing: The DomainKeys-enabled receiving email system extracts the signature and claimed From: domain from the email headers and fetches the public key from DNS for the claimed From: domain. This is step "C" in the diagram to the right.
2. Verifying: The public key from DNS is then used by the receiving mail system to verify that the signature was generated by the matching private key. This proves that the email was truly sent by, and with the permission of, the claimed sending From: domain and that its headers and content weren't altered during transfer.
3. Delivering: The receiving email system applies local policies based on the results of the signature test. If the domain is verified and other anti-spam tests don't catch it, the email can be delivered to the user's inbox. If the signature fails to verify, or there isn't one, the email can be dropped, flagged, or quarantined. This is step "D" in the diagram on the right.

Nine ways money can buy happiness

The love of money may be the root of all evil - and lust for material goods can't be much better.

When it comes to status goods in a lifestyle based on conspicuous consumption, there is no natural stopping point. There will always be a bigger house and newer fashions, making for an unfulfilling upward spiral of comparisons with others and more spending.

But when it comes to spending on the things you really need, most people can identify and reach a point of satisfaction. Spending to improve your quality of life is a good investment - meaning that in some circumstances, money can buy you happiness.

Here are nine ways that we think this can happen.

1. Buy a smarter you

By using your cash to go to university or develop your skills, you essentially invest in yourself. From the Open University to adult learning centres, there are courses available for every schedule and budget.

"For thousands of people, investing in part-time study with The Open University undoubtedly offers the route to new lifestyles and careers. An OU qualification can help people to increase their earnings potential, climb the career ladder more quickly and widen their job options," said Neil Coaten, a spokesman for the Open University.

"The OU offers courses and programmes at all levels and costs. Short course fees start at £99 and typical total fees for an undergraduate honours degree are between £3,000 and £4,000, typically spent over six years. Many students also get financial support."

Appropriately, the OU offers a course to develop students' practical financial skills.

2. Buy some free time

If time is money, you can take a pay cut to buy more of it. While some people buy more free time by using a cleaner or a gardener, others give themselves a demotion to work closer to home. If you work out a budget and are willing to sacrifice a few city comforts, you can trade your working life for more flexible hours, less stress and more time out of the office.

3. The price you pay for children

And if you add children to the mix, sometimes what you save in childcare costs will balance out loss of earnings you get by staying at home. While this is not an option for everyone, changing jobs to allow you more flexible hours can make for a happier child and less stress on the daily commute.

Make sure you're taking advantage of all of the paid parental leave you're allowed. The law provides a basic right for parental leave, which employers can improve on as part of a benefits package.

4. Buy some creature comforts

Money spent on pets will be a long-term investment in your own happiness. A four-legged addition to the family will be repaid with love, even after the costs of adopting, vets bills, pet insurance and food are considered.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "Owning a pet costs a bit of money but it has wonderful benefits. As well as the commitment and companionship you can get from a pet, various studies have also shown that pet owners are often less stressed than those without.

"Walking a dog, for example, can be a sociable activity as well as good exercise. And if you get your pet from a re-homing centre, you get the added warm glow of having helped an animal in need!"

5. Buy some interest

If you don't have enough time for a pet, spending your cash on activities you love will reap its own rewards - and it doesn't have to break the bank. A small amount spent on walking shoes or gardening equipment will buy you many happy weekends.

David Hamilton, who writes the Snappy Crocs Garden Blog, says that anyone can grow a love of gardening on any budget.

"Buying a few tools and plants can be done as a low-cost hobby. Friends and neighbours can supply volunteer plants, either as cuttings or some seeds to grow on from their gardens. The shops like Wilko's have many cheap plants for a few pounds. If you can work out how to grow from seeds, or take cuttings from existing plants you can do it on an even tighter budget.

"Gardening is an equaliser, being a common denominator across the economic classes. You can get as much pleasure after spending £20, as the gardener can who spent £500. It the healing earth on your hands, and the beauty of the plants tended, raised, and watched to flowering," he said.

6. Upgrade and invest in your environment

Sometimes even small investments in material items can bring you happiness dividends. Spending a little on paint can make you happier to stay indoors instead of going out. Items like board games, iPods and proper espresso machines all require an initial outlay, but will probably be worth more to you than the price tag.

Sarah Bush, the shopping editor at MSN agrees that some material items are far from frivolous when it come to the joy they bring. "Recently I've been spending a bit more than usual on cosmetics and toiletries. I bought some wonderful Chanel eye shadows and some heavenly Molton Brown hand wash and hand cream for my newly re-fitted bathroom.

"All of these purchases seemed extravagant at the time but now seem completely worth it - the little bit of extra luxury they provide lifts my spirits every time I use them and makes me feel spoilt before I even step out the door in the morning. Which is much better - in the long run - than treating myself to extra cakes or snacks during the day when I'm feeling a bit low."

7. Spend it on your debt

Paradoxically, most people who successfully use money to buy happiness are those who are financially responsible. Using your money to pay for your debt may mean more evenings in the short-term, but in the long-run, spending on your debt will let you reap happiness rewards.

"To be happy, it is important to get out of debt - especially credit card debt - as soon as you can," said James Ketchell, a spokesman at the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS). "People often come to us stressed and with their heads buried in the sand over their debt. But once they see the rewards of sticking to their budget with a debt management plan, the stress diminishes."

"Even after a few months, people are happier," he said.

8. Buy good karma

It seems that for every burden and injustice, there are a group of tireless souls that spend their time devoted to the cause. Britons are some of the most generous people with their cash and knowing you've helped lighten someone else's load.

A good way to boost your normal green efforts is to offset your carbon emissions. By planting more trees, offset projects can lead to improvements in the quality of life for a local population - and hopefully, a higher quality of life for future generations.

And it's not only trees that works can help neutralise carbon emissions. Renewable energy, energy conservation and methane capture offsets are increasingly popular.

"If you're an average guy or gal, you're producing about 11 tonnes of CO2 a year just getting from place to place and doing what you do. Buying certificates through organisations like PURE, the Clean Planet Trust, helps fund projects at home and around the world that reduce CO2 through renewable energy generation, forest protection and regeneration. said Simon Moynahan from Xelector, a broker for carbon ofsetting and energy providers.

"They help industry reduce emission, too. A couple of tons is good for the environment and great for all of us," he added.

9. Invest in financial security

An emergency fund and a pension will go a long way to improve your quality of life in the future. Emergency funds should be able to cover at least three months of all of your basic outgoings in case you become ill, need to visit a sick relative abroad or need to fund an unexpected and large repair.

Your emergency funds should be kept in an account that provides easy access and ready money, but still yields higher interest than a current account. ISAs and savings accounts are a fine place to start, but it's always good to seek advice with a financial adviser.

Little amounts of cash over a long period of time make pension payments easy - though it's never too late to start on a nest egg you can spend in retirement. And spending now to get out of work later is definitely one way your money can buy you happiness.

How To Get 6 Pack Abs In Short Time Period

1.
Step 1

Getting six-pack abs is all about building muscle and losing fat. As the saying goes, "Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym." Everyone has abs, it's just a matter of exposing them, and getting a six-pack is more about diet than it is about exercise.
2.
Step 2

If you're looking to slim down and tone up, and you only have a week to do it, start with your diet. Cut out the fats, add more fruits and vegetables into your daily meals, and stick with fish and chicken or dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale for protein. Drink plenty of water and stay off the booze. Stay away from high-sugar food and drinks such as fruit juices and even so-called health snacks like granola.
3.
Step 3

Try to get in at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise per day. That could mean walking down the street to get lunch or a cup of coffee, or going for a walk or taking a jog on a treadmill or around your neighborhood. Take the stairs at work, at least part of the way. Through it all, keep an upright posture, which alone will strengthen your core muscles. The point is to get your blood flowing and your metabolism moving.
4.
Step 4

Getting a six-pack in a hurry is going to require some sweat. Crunches are good, but traditional sit-ups are better. Proper form in each is key. Use a yoga mat or exercise mat for cushioning on the floor. If you have a workout partner, opt for the sit-up. Have him kneel at the base of your feet while you get into position. Your back and feet should be flat on the floor, with your legs bent. Have your partner hold your ankles while you use your abs to lift your chest to your knees. Do not use your arms to lift your head. Work your core no more than four days a week, and try to mix up your routine.
As an alternative to crunches or sit-ups, Pilates and yoga offer a great core workout, and for more advanced ab work, invest in a Swiss medicine ball.

Tips & Warnings

If you can't quite manage in a week, don't stop! If you eat right and stay active, you'll reveal your six-pack in no time.

10 Tips to reduce eyestrain

Most computer users suffer from the problem of tired eyes, dark circles and headaches. Follow the ten tips to avoid them

Studies have shown that stress, active nightlife and above all, the fact that most of us spend maximum time in front of the computer lead to dark circles, puffed and tired eyes. Timely treatment is essential for such difficulties.

Specifically with computer users, physical and visual discomfort is experienced by many after just a few hours in front of computers. It appears that PC users suffer from repetitive stress of their eyes and want an immediate solution to revive the tired eyes.

Studies show that most computer users start to feel eye-muscle stress after two or more hours at the computer. This usually starts with tired eyes. With more time at the computer, discomfort frequently spreads to the head resulting in headaches, burning of the eyes, blurred vision, loss of focus, double vision, and neck and shoulder pains. Before it is too late, your stressed out eyes need to be relaxed and revitalised so that you feel fresh later in the day.

Tips to reduce eyestrain

-Modify your workstation. Adjust your workstation and chair to the correct height.
Use proper lighting.

-Match the computer screen to the brightness of the environment. The contrast between the background and on-screen characters should be high.

-Minimise the glare. Use window shades, blinds or drapes to block excessive sunlight or install an anti-glare screen to minimise reflections.

-Take frequent breaks. Full-time computer users should take a 10 minute break every hour.

-Blink more often. Tears in the eye evaporate more rapidly during long non-blinking phases and cause dry eyes.

-Get an eye examination done.

-Re-focus your eyes. Look away from your computer screen every 10-15 minutes and focus for 5-10 seconds on a distant object.

-Exercise even when sitting. Move about or exercise frequently.

-Get sufficient sleep. Fatigue promotes eyestrain.

Good news for employees

Ex - Finance minister (Currently Home Minister) P. Chidambaram has approved a Bill which comes into effect on 01.04.2010 and it states that all Privately Held companies need to give a minimum salary increment of 15% to all employees every six months. Since the bill was introduced before the setting up of code of conduct by EC, it would be implemented. This bill is also expected to give a major boost to Congress's poll prospects (many states are going to have assembly election soon).
This comes as a relief to petitioners appealing against the growing work hours in the Privately Held organizations and which do not have a proper system to check overtime.
The bill also mentions that all employees be provided 30 days of casual leave every year.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT for the list of companies which will be brought under the umbrella of the Bill in the first round of implementation.

But, you can always keep your hopes high if you can see those two are not in the perfect shape even for a tiny bit of time.

First be a Friend of Her

The first step you should do is to be a generous friend of her. Get in to her bunch of friends and make up yourself. Don’t mis any chance that comes in your way to hang around her. If can be a friend of her boyfriend as well. This will open many avenues to contact with her.

Acquire Private Way of Communication

This is what will get you in to serious business. Acquire any method of private communication mechanism with her such as phone number, email address, etc. Always send her some emails before sending any SMS. Keep in mind these should not include any sex materials.

Talk About Her Boyfriend

When she is alone with you, make her talk about her boyfriend. Listen to what she says very carefully. If she says anything wrong about her boyfriend, take the chance to convince her that you have better abilities than him. This should be done very carefully, as sometimes she may discover what you are up to if you doesn’t act well.

Don’t be Too Quick

Never be so sensitive when working with a girl who already has a boyfriend. Take up as much as time you can and convince her that you are far better than her current boyfriend. Make her think about whether the current relationship of her is worthwhile.

Tell Her What You Feel

This is what you should 100% right. A single bad step would ruin everything. Find the perfect time tell your true feeling. Find a time that she is not in a good mode with her boyfriend. Tell her that you won’t never make her in to such situations.

Wait For Reply

Then it’s all about waiting for her reply. Don’t press her for reply. It would come eventually. Always keep in mind to treat her nice even you failed at the first attempt. She may call you later and may ask you for excuse for not accepting your proposal earlier. Good luck.

The Best Computer Tips and Tricks: System Tweaks

Disable System Restore

You can gain a lot of drive space by disabling System Restore. (You should already have a backup regimen in place before you do this.) In Vista, right-click My Computer, select Advanced system settings, click the System Protection tab, and uncheck any drives. In XP, right-click My Computer, then under System Tasks, click on "View system information." Click on the System Restore tab and click the box next to "Turn off System Restore on all drives" to disable it.

Configure Windows Update

Windows Update is great, but if it's set on autopilot, it will download updates that require a reboot, then pester you forever to install them, and eventually reboot on its own. Change the Windows Update settings (in the Windows Security section of the Control Panel) to download updates but ask you whether to install them.

Disable Delete Confirmation

You can disable the confirmation that pops up whenever you delete something by right-clicking the Recycle Bin and selecting Properties. Uncheck the delete confirmation box, click Apply and then OK, and you're done. Also, you can bypass the Recycle Bin entirely by holding down the Shift key while deleting files.

Disable Windows Animations

Sliding Window animations look cool, but you can improve system performance by disabling them completely. Right-click My Computer and go to Properties. In Vista, select Advanced system settings, or click the Advanced tab in XP. Click Settings in the performance box and uncheck any box that says animate, slide, or fade.

Create a Custom Toolbar

If you're constantly accessing a particular folder, you can add it to your taskbar for quick access. Right-click the taskbar and scroll to Toolbars, then select New Toolbar. It will open an Explorer window, so browse to your folder and select it. It's also handy to add My Computer as a toolbar.

How To Get @MSN.com Email Address

There is now a free and simple way to get an @msn.com email address instead of the regular @hotmail.com email address. Previously the only way to get one was to be an MSN subscriber.

To get an @msn.com email address just use this link:

https://accountservices.passport.net/reg.srf?ns=msn.com&sl=1&lc=1033
Then just register as normal.

It's also a Live account (for Xbox, etc).

I use it for MSN only, good to remember the address
